By now I’m sure you all know how much I prefer watching films in a theater setting, rather than at home. I’m sure you also know that I’m a big supporter of watching classic films re-released in theaters. While not exactly a theater presentation, it’s good enough; the “Movies in the Park” series returns this Fall to the Biltmore Fashion Park in Phoenix!
The Biltmore Fashion Park will be screening a different film each Friday night, from October 10 through December 12, on their lawn. This is a free event for all ages, although be warned that all of the films will be unedited, regardless of their ratings. There is a great variety of titles, ranging from Good Will Hunting to Frozen, so there’s a Friday night for everyone.
Watching movies at home is great, don’t get me wrong, but this opportunity to catch some film classics outside on a cool Arizona evening can’t be passed up. I, for one, will definitely be attending to watch some of my all-time favorites, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, on the big screen and surrounded by an audience of filmgoers. I can’t wait to feel the tension in the crowd as Vertigo’s masterful finale at the Mission San Juan Bautista plays before our eyes, and the terror as The Shining’s Jack Torrance relentlessly rips through that bathroom door with an axe.
